Psalm 32
As many college students do, I turned away from God and my faith when faced with the many different viewpoints of the wider world. I was convinced that I did not need Him and questioned His very existence. In this, I hid from Him and tried to make my own way. It didn’t work. I ran into problems I could not overcome.
I see a lot of this in our country. We are running into problems that we have difficulty overcoming, because we are hearing so many different viewpoints in this age of social media dominance and keyboard prophets. We have, as a country, turned away from God and are trying to make our own way. We hide behind titles, labels, and the bottom line, and for so many, every good and faithful act has to be coerced, like a stubborn mule. It did not work for me and it will not work for us.
When I turned to Him and finally confessed my weakness and short-sightedness, my life began to turn around. When I began to seek his guidance, I found direction and strength. Since then, I have done all I can to be open with God and not only be faithful to Him, but praise His blessings in my life. I have gone to him with every problem and sought guidance and clarity of purpose.
As a country, if we want God to bless us, we have to turn back to him, pray to him in these troubled times, and live up to the phrase “In God We Trust.”
