Mark 1:21-28
Some days just seem to be filled with stress. People are upset. You can’t please the boss. There’s more on your to-do list than you have hours in the day.
In this scripture, Jesus was confronted with a man with an unclean spirit screaming at Him. We all face this at times, even the Israelites. Psalm 107:6 says, “Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.”
When things go awry in my life I go to Jesus. I worship Him and praise Him until His peace comes. Sometimes I just have to play some praise and worship music and sit at His feet, read scripture or pray. A few minutes alone with Jesus can make all the difference. Once His peace comes I am able to go about my day. People do not irritate me as much and I respond more positively. My to-do list gets done with time to spare.
It is His peace that transforms us. Remember at Jesus’ birth, there was with the angel a heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth toward men.”
Seek His peace! Allow Jesus to come into your situation today. He says in John 14:27 (NIV), “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you... Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
In 1 Peter 5:7 Peter tells us to cast our cares on Jesus because He cares for us. If something belongs to God, He is responsible for its outcome.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and allowing me to come into Your presence, placing all my cares at Your feet and receiving Your peace as I release every thing to You. How wonderful You are! I give You all my praise for the Mighty God You are. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
