Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”
Have you ever wondered why God out of all the creatures he created chose to use the eagle as a symbol of our relationship with him? It just may be because the eagle rarely flaps his wings. Instead, it truly relies on the air currents, the wind beneath its wings, to travel where it needs to be.
Maybe God is telling us to do the same. That in order to travel where we NEED to be all we must do is truly rely on his love for us. A love that is so great, as described best by the Apostle Paul, “God demonstrated his Own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having been justified by his blood, we shall be Saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having now been reconciled, we shall be Saved by His Life.”
So no matter how hard we may flap our wings to try and make our sins forgiven, and although it came at an immeasurable cost, by the faith that has moved us to read these devotions we have already been made holy, righteous and redeemed.
Therefore, this Easter season instead of tirelessly flapping our wings, let us be filled with the joy that comes from truly relying on the Grace that God has bestowed upon us and those who have gone before us, through the Gift of His precious Son. Thank you Almighty God and thank you Jesus Christ our Savior.
