I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you. Genesis 28:15
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
Every moment in our lives on earth, every second, every heartbeat, every breath, every thought, the love of God surrounds us and lifts us by the grace of Jesus Christ. The promise of our salvation means that Christ is always with us....and yet most of us go about our day consumed by our schedules at work and home, deadlines that must be met,… totally focused on the "important" issue at this particular moment in our life.
Jesus Christ's love for us is constant. It is the same yesterday and today and forever. As the pace of the world grows ever faster, and the latest technology keeps us in constant contact with each other, Jesus Christ is also there waiting on us. When we realize we have drifted too far away, we only need to whisper His name and focus our thoughts and He is with us. It is not that He loses us… it is that we lose Him.
I am a firm believer that God has a plan for each of us. When I neared my 40th birthday, I faced a serious health issue. It got worse before it got better. I spent a week in the hospital thinking about my life and the choices I had made, my faith, my future, and my family. Lynn and I had been married for 16 years, Chris was 8 and Kate was 12. The one thing I remember most about that experience was that I was never afraid. When I prayed I felt total peace. It was like Jesus was there holding my hand watching over me. Lynn and I are about to celebrate our 30th anniversary, Chris is 22 and Kate is 26.... and my life has been blessed in more ways than I can list or count.
When the pace of our everyday life consumes us, we all need to slow down and focus on what is really important, and what really matters.
